Supporting Local Causes

I am deeply committed to supporting the Dorset  Cancer Care Fund (DCCF), a local charity operated by community members dedicated to assisting individuals affected by cancer. My personal connection to this cause stems from losing my mother to cancer, and witnessing two close friends battle terminal cancer or cope with the loss of loved ones to the disease. Additionally, my husband's recent recovery from cancer has further highlighted the critical importance of such support. We were fortunate to manage without financial strain, but I understand that many families, particularly those where the patient is the primary earner, face immense challenges. This charity has a profound impact on countless lives, and their tireless efforts in fundraising are truly commendable.

Adele's Story

Adele from Poole is currently undergoing cancer treatment, and the Dorset Cancer Care Fund (DCCF) recently provided her with a much-needed weekend break for her three children.

Adele shared, 'My children are 13, 12, and 10, and this whole year has been a real challenge for them. Because I had to isolate during chemotherapy, our lives changed overnight. Cancer does impact the entire family. To see me unwell is very frightening. But they have been so brave. I’m very proud of them. They haven’t complained once about missing out on beach days and play dates.' She continued, 'Our weekend away was very much needed. I'm currently having radiotherapy, so fatigue is a real issue. The break was a chance to relax and be a family without worrying about treatment and hospital appointments. I want to thank DCCF for giving us this precious time together.'

This powerful testimonial truly highlights the vital work DCCF does in supporting families affected by  cancer."
